As the Coronavirus and the emergency response to the virus have led to many economic problems, there have been various statements released by a number of organizations. There are also multi-lingual resources on these issues provided by local government bodies and organizations supporting migrants. Here are some useful links below.
コロナ禍への政府の対応において在留資格がある外国人への経済的な支援などがあることが発表されました。しかし、非正規滞在者／仮放免で在留資格のない外国人は対象外になっています。難民認定申請者や非正規在留者などには、無国籍者や国籍が定かでない人もいると考えられます。
In response to the Coronavirus emergency, the Japanese government has announced that foreign nationals living in Japan who have residence cards and who are residing in the country for more than 3 months can also receive financial assistance from the Government. But those who are undocumented migrants or those on provisional release (Karihomen) who do not have valid visas allowing them to reside in the country will not be covered by such support. It is likely there are many who are stateless or whose nationality is unclear among those who are applying for refugee status or who are undocumented migrants living in Japan.
